Biography Barbara Glenn
"Make Up Artist to the Stars"
Permit me to introduce myself to you. My name is Barbara Glenn, makeup artist to some of the country's most beautiful and visible women including some celebrities you may know.
After bilateral mastectomies in 1980, I was featured in a New York Times article entitled "Sexuality after Breast Surgery." That year I helped found the "Look Good, Feel Better" program for the Cancer Society. After working for some forty years as a volunteer makeup artist in Florida's leading hospitals, my motto is, and always will be, "If you look good, you will feel a whole lot better. I promise.”
After 21 years in recovery, I have also worked in rehabs for addictions giving makeup lessons as part of the “Dress for Success” program. When I reflect, giving back is my proudest accomplishment.
My claim to fame, if you will, started at Boyd's of Madison Avenue which was New York's most exclusive makeup center. I was the artistic training director and educator to more than 200 fledgling make-up artists. Throughout my formidable forty-year career, I made up, assisted, and developed looks for such notables as Cher, Diana Ross, Bette Midler, Suzanne Sommers, the late Jackie Onassis and her daughter Caroline Kennedy , Ingrid Bergman, Anne Bancroft, and many others. Anybody who was anybody came to Boyd's. It was legendary, and I was proud to be part of its reputation.
From Madison Avenue, I went to the prestigious Bal Harbour shops in Miami, Florida. I provided image and beauty consulting services to high profile community leaders for eight years. I now live and work in Aventura, Florida. I have my own line, BIJE COSMETICS. It’s a collection of the best colors, textures, and brushes and includes the latest, finest, highest technology in makeup and cosmetic innovations from all over the world like Facelifts in a Bottle or Dewy J-Lo Glow Compact Dew. There are a lot of makeup companies out there making many promises, but I won't sell or buy anything that doesn't work. My products deliver everything I promise them to do. I back all my products personally. I won't let you down.
“What makes Barbara so special?” you ask. I was an art teacher first, and I went from a canvas to a face. Now my faces can talk to me and tell me how good they feel about themselves. I have a great love for what I do. I try to match makeup to personalities. I develop special "looks" that each of you can relate to. I design four to six different "looks" each season with an overview of fashion themes and styles. I will teach you an easy method of application that will take 10 to15 minutes to duplicate. Each look contains a personal makeup chart detailing the order and location on the face as to where each color is applied. Each look will consist of five shadows (contained in one shadow palette), one blush, one contour or bronzer with a lip liner, and a gloss to match. I will have specialty items that will not be found anywhere else, products that will take five years off of your face in less than two minutes or give you a dewy glow of a teenager on her fist date.
I develop these looks in accordance with current styles, color themes, and style eras such as a 40's look, a mod look, or the Victorian romantic era, etc.
I will describe seasonal fashions and what makeup looks correspond to the particular style with a color story to match.
I will give you detailed trends and techniques in makeup applications. I will show you all the tricks of the trade (I invented some myself), so you can look like a star everyday any day.
I look forward to getting to know each of you and help in developing your personal makeup style. That’s my promise to you all.
With love and sincerity,
Barbara
